Job Description
Primary Responsibilities
Analyzes and investigates Provides explanations and interpretations within area of expertise Actively participate in all phases of project development life cycle including database policies, procedures, standards and supporting documentation, database design and build, process flow analysis, development, benchmark analysis, performance/tuning, capacity planning, and production implementation Production support responsibilities include maximizing system availability, ensuring swift and complete database recovery, optimizing database and availability through ongoing maintenance, and ensure conformance to audit and operating standards Proactively monitor Teradata workload and engage internal/external teams as appropriate to resolve errors/failures/throughput bottleneck Execute Change Tasks including but not limited to security provisioning, schema creation, DB role creation, DDL execution, data restoration etc Assist Application Developers and testers with reengineering / deploying code from Infrastructure Support standpoint Implementation experience in Teradata version upgrade, migrations with hands-on exposure to all DBA functions Review workload and provide recommendations for performance optimization and operational efficiency Define / manage overall Data standards and specifications for the entire DWH for Teradata Create / modify Data Model (Logical & Physical) in place of the current industry standards taking customer predefined Enterprise standards into consideration by following all the best practices Implement all necessary performance related aspects in Data Model Identify, trouble shoot and resolve issues/backlogs related to slow/failed/abended jobs Proactively monitor capacity based on current utilization and upcoming usage guestimate projections working with System DBAs Document and advise developers and end-users about best practices and housekeeping Be able to identify & resolve performance bottlenecks Ensure overall system stability, reliability, and manageability Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). Required Qualifications
Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience 8+ years in Database modelling & Database technologies 7+ years working with Teradata DBMS Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization, monitoring and troubleshooting Experience working with Teradata Utilities, also installing patch sets and upgrading Teradata with the latest version Expertise in database design Ability to write, understand, and optimize complex SQL
Preferred Qualification
Knowledge on Netezza, Python/Ansible
